Question by : Very confusing Wii access point issue, how do I fix this?
Hi, on my Nintendo Wii, I am having trouble connecting to my wireless access point. It used to connect perfectly to the router, I am pretty sure nothing has changed.
My setup is an Apple Airport Extreme, and a D-Link DSL-502T. The name of the access point is the Airport name. I am fairly confident that range is not an issue here, as the Wii is less than 5m from the access point, with nothing in the way to block it. My Nintendo DS can still find the access point and connect to WiFi, from a longer distance.
I have the channel set to 11, I have it set to 802.11 b/g compatible.
The Wii very occassionally find the access point. But when I try to connect to the internet with it, it still fails. I proceed to do another access point scan and it returns the error “No access point was found”. I have brought the Wii and the access point to within 3m of each other with nothing in the path, and it still wont find it.
I am looking for any help, please. Whoever answers this and gets it working for me, gets the best answer and 5 stars.
Thanks.

Answer by Blue, Smackdown! FTW! From what you’re saying, you’re using someone’s else router, right?
Well, your DS would find the access point because it could detect farther wifi range than the Wii. Try buying a router, it’s kind of expensive but it’s definitely worth it (maybe around 50$ ). And your Wii will definitely pick up your access point.
