Wiis are region locked (ie they're only supposed to work in one market).I'm surprised it can play any games at all.
Also, the reason it might be bricked is because you've obviously modded it in some way if you were playing a bootlegged game.

You bought a "modded" console, meaning that it had a "mod chip" installed so your Wii would not be region locked and could play games from different regions--as well as bootleg copies.
As your Wii is Japanese, I would say there's a good chance your mod chip is the one called a "wiikey" (of course, the only way to know for sure is to open your console, look at it and compare it to the other available mod chips.)
You may be able to get an update for your mod chip which might work
The most recent update for the "wiikey" can be found and downloaded here: http://nintendo-scene.com/567
But first, you need to find out which mod chip you have installed in your system, and then go to the mod chip forums to find out what problems others have had, and what their recommendations are for solutions.
